Who We AreThe Duncan Skating Club has been one of the largest clubs on the island since we became an official Skate Canada Club. We offer group sessions for kids to learn how to skate with professional instruction so that they can develop into a love of figure skating or hockey. At the Duncan Skating Club we want kids to learn to love to be on the ice.

Our HistoryPlans to have a skating club started as early as March 1978. The arena complex was under construction and, although not completed until December of 1978, the ice was ready for the first season of skating on October 11, 1978. Application to Canadian Figure Skating Association was underway and on September 27, 1979 the club became an official probationary club. On May 15, 1980 at the Annual General Meeting in Montreal, Quebec, Duncan was granted Permanent Membership. The first President of the club was Martha Roberge and the Club Coach was Penny Baker. There were 310 skaters the first year, 40 were boys. Registration fee was $35.00 and Ice Costs were $15.00 per hour.
